With Martha Kilpatrick and hosted by John Enslow

This is the continuation of a series of Podcasts started in Episode #541.
Are you on fire for the will of God? Would you like to be? The Holy Spirit is igniting His church with a new understanding of and passion for His will.

(John) Well, don’t you have to have a commitment to the will? Don’t you have to, before you ever even do it, you really have to be committed to it?
(Martha) Absolutely. Before you can hear it and know it, you have to be committed to God’s will. The Scripture says, “I incline my heart to His will.” And it’s the life of Jesus within too, John. That’s why I quoted, “In the volume of the book, it is written of Me, I delight to do Thy will, O God.” The life of Jesus in you. If you allow Him to be Your source within, He will give you His own commitment and love for the will of God, and He will live through you that same adoration of God’s will.
(John) We don’t naturally have that. It’s not something that is innate in me.
(Martha) No, and it never will be. It’s only in Jesus, in the indwelling life of Christ.
(John) So, you have to have His life in order to have His will.
(Martha) Umhmm. And I think in my case, He – I didn’t know it was Him or the Holy Spirit – carefully guided me like a lamb to His will and to commit to it. And it was, “He works in you to will and do of His good pleasure.” And His will is the good pleasure of the Father. And it’s like He’s so – I see Him as so exuberant about His plan, so joyful and almost excited for us to experience all that He has for us. “Eye hath not seen…” I see Him now as so exuberant about His own will and His own plan, because He knows where it’s going. But we have to get on the train without knowing where the train is going.
(John) Well, it reminds me of your prayer series that you recently did and talking about the Lord’s prayer and about, “His will be done,” and bringing heaven down to earth. That’s just… You’re connecting that bridge through His life. You’re connecting that will of the Father to the earth through His life. And that’s…
(Martha) It’s staggering that would be given such a privilege.
(John) Well, I mean, you know, then the will is heavenly. It’s eternal. It’s everything. That’s why He’s so excited and joyous about it is because it really does, it radiates everything from heaven, heavenly provision, heavenly everything. It’s like bringing heaven to earth. And wow, that’s amazing, isn’t it?
(Martha) Oh, it is so overwhelming.
(John) It makes you hungry for it.
(Martha) Umhmm. I’m on fire now for the will of God. I want to speak it and live it. And I’ve taught many times Colossians 4, that, that you and I memorized in the New King James. I’ve only got the Amplified with me. Colossians 1:8, I think.
(John) Colossians 1:8?
(Martha) Umhmm.
(John) Ok and then..
(Martha) 9.
(John) And1:9? And…
(Martha) Through 12.
(John) 9 through 12 in what versions?
(Martha) New King James. We were in the Spirit Filled Life Bible at the time, and that’s New King James, and I like that translation. “Since the day we heard of it, we do not cease to pray for you.” There you go. “We do not cease to pray for you and ask that you be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord being pleasing to Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might.” There’s the strength from the will of God. “According to His glorious power for all patience and long suffering with joy, giving thanks to the Father. This qualified us to be partakers of the saints in the light.” And it goes on to say what we enjoyed at that time was… “He has transferred us from the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of the Son of His love.” All the things that lists there, which we all want – we all want those things – are lists: to be blessed, to be fruitful and full. They come from the will of God. So, we are really praying again for the will of God. Colossians 1:11 in the Amplified says, “We pray that you may be strengthened and invigorated with all power according to His glorious might to attain every kind of endurance and patience with joy.” When do have endurance with joy? Not usually.
(John) You know, it’s the, “He delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
(Martha) Incredible. Everything is found in the will of God. All protection, all provision, all safety is found inside the will of God. And He’s not to be blamed when we don’t have that and wonder why we don’t. And it’s because we’re committed to doing or working or going instead of committed to His will. The scriptures are so rich about His will. Umm! He is a lavish, lavish Father.
(John) Well, why don’t you pray for those who are listening not only the scripture, but… Because that scripture is amazing, but I would like to see what God would do with those prayers.
(Martha) Oh, I thank You, Father, that You’re turning my passion for Your will into a passion to pray for Your will and to know that if we are to pray for Your will in the lives of others, then therefore You will answer, and You will bring it about. You will bring people to the commitment to Your will if we have the love of Your will and the love for You, because of Your lovely will. That You would go after those who are lawless and rebellious and ignorant by choice, and afraid, whatever. And I wonder now if the story of the Prodigal isn’t a story of the father’s love, who prayed for his son for the will of God. That would be the best prayer for our children. And I’ve always said that the greatest favor you can do for your children is obey God, because they get a heritage. According to scripture, they get a heritage, because of your obedience as a parent. The greatest gift you can give is the sacrificial living of His will, even if it costs some things that you would rather have with your children. I’ve never had enough time with my grandchildren and with my children, but I do beg You for Your will in their lives to rule, overcome all obstacles and all barriers, and keep them in Your will. Give us, Father, as You say, give us the love of Christ for Your will by the confidence in Your character and goodness. Grant that to our listeners, Lord. I pray that Your power and anointing will be on this message beyond what we’ve been able to put into words, that Your great power of love will capture and intrigue us into Your will. And I ask You, Father, to give us in Shulamite the great energy of travail and striving in prayer for the will of God, a passion, a fire for You to have Your way in the lives of all we know, and all we love, and all we don’t love that are willing to listen to us. I pray the Holy Spirit’s unction on this message, and that the life of Christ will be imparted through it. Open doors for Your will to be seen, and open doors for Murray’s book, Lord. He has the message so fully and completely, so richly, so high and holy, and so accessible and desirable. I ask You to bless his book around the world. And if the church is failing to call for His will, I ask You to intervene with churches and groups and give them this high—
(John) Passion…
(Martha) Passion for Your will so that it can spread. Let it be the source of prayer for revival for this nation and the world before Christ’s return. Put us in a position to be heard by obedience to Your will. Let us pray Your will. Let us know Your will and pray it. Above all forgive us for our rebellion, our restless dissatisfaction with You. Grant us the grace and mercy to be so satisfied with just Your will whatever it happens to be. Grace, Lord. Grace for Your will and grace in Your will. And, Father, above all would You just please give us the love that the Son has for You, that unspeakable love, unimaginable love for You that lives in each of us. I want not just my love for You, Father, but Jesus’ love You, which is just so great, it’s indescribable. I want to love You with His very love. Thank You for the privilege to pray for Your will, not just to pray for Your will for me, but the privilege to bring Your will from heaven down to earth, as John said. Let this be the fire that ignites Shulamite, and it spreads as far as You want it to go. The fire, a passion for Your will out of love for You. Let it be the theme of our midst and of churches that we love.
(John) When you’re praying for these people, you’re praying for family. We talk to family. This is family we are talking to.
(Martha) Yes…
(John) And so, I would like to really see God revive those who have been weary in well doing, those who have become weary with the path.
(Martha) And I pray that we, first of all, will confine ourselves to God’s will and not go outside it. I think sometimes our weariness is from doing what He didn’t ask us to do. He, Paul prays for the Colossians to know the wisdom, have wisdom to know His will in all understanding. But your point is beautiful.
(John) You know, the season that it was between the time that you gave the message and the woman was screaming and yelling, and then when it came to see that she was dynamically affected and impacted. That in between season could have been a season of weariness.
(Martha) Uh huh. Umhmm.
(John) And the enemy would really love to get in during those times and make you… There’s a price to pay for the will of God.
(Martha) And very much is it the price of waiting. But He had so struck me with the fear of God about His will through Deuteronomy that I think I was satisfied at that point that in His will, even though it didn’t appear to have been fruitful, if He was telling me that was His will, then the fear of God entered me about it. And it was a very good experience, because I don’t think we understand that if we don’t stay in His will, we evoke His wrath. We deserve His wrath. Romans 1:17 or 16 says, “The wrath of God is against all who do unrighteousness and suppress the truth.” So, I’ll add that to the prayer. May the Lord send out the fear of Him and the reverence for Him. And the chilling thing about Matthew 7 has always been to me. I looked it up. I studied the… When He says, “I never knew you,” what I’ve studied is that in the Greek it meant, “I was never a participant with what you’re doing.” It may mean that it’s a believer.
(John) Umhmm.
(Martha) It could be a believer and an unbeliever because He was not the source of what they were doing. They were doing it in their own flesh and in using Him. And so, it tells me also there will be people who cast out demons successfully and who cry, “Lord, Lord,” and we’ve had people like that. We’ve known people that profess to be under Him, who turned out were not.
(John) Well, I thank you for this. I thank you for just sharing and bringing the Spring message in our Spring day. I’m really grateful for this. I hope that you’ll be able to read the post that she’s writing. It’s called, “Spring Ablaze,” and it will be on GetAlongWithGod.com. (Martha) It’s been quite a labor to do it. I’ve been amazed how much time you and the web guy have spent hours together on it. So, it’s worth checking out.
(John) And it’s a gift to you all also. We bless you with that gift. And thank you for listening, and we’d love to hear your comments.
(Martha) Umhmmm. We would. I would.

Did you ever have an answer before you could even formulate the question? ” . . . sometimes our weariness is from doing what He didn’t ask us to do.” Thank you! Reminded me of your blog post today, John: wanting to go with Martha & Carole but sensing it was His will to stay behind. And even that was not the total surrender, but the resting / writing when you knew all that needed to be done–for sure, Christ in you.
He, in you all at Shulamite, never ceases to amaze me!
Humbled that you would pray for us like that, Martha . . . received! If you could, what is the scripture that you refer to in Deuteronomy about the will of God?
More of His love to you!

Messages ordained of God! Between the current daily devotions, “The Mystery of Discipleship,” the Podcast series about living His will, and the recent blogs – my cup is far beyond overflowing. As Lori said, “Thank you for praying…for sharing Him…” What a blessing to be covered by these words of Jesus through you both. You are also in my prayers. Love.
