The Great Exchange Victory in Christ
Episode #852
04/16/2023
Walk and talk with John Enslow
Barabbas was set free for the crimes that he committed, and an innocent Man took his place (Exchanged Life in Christ).
Hey guys I just want to come real quick today and give a message about the exchanged life, as it’s seen in the story of Barabbas. So I went to an Easter service and in the service the pastor was talking about Barabbas, and he was talking about that there was an exchange of lives that was made. That Barabbas was set free for the crimes that he committed, and an innocent Man took his place (Christ). He really focused on, that the reason was that he could get out of prison. So I thought the message was amazing. I’ve never heard of Easter service that talked about Barabbas. But I feel like it did fit but I felt like there was another part of this message that was so key.
It is found in the book The Great Exchange that I wrote. I just wanted to reference this because death on the cross wasn’t just so we could be let out of prison, that we could be set free. There was something so much greater. And even though the exchange with Barabbas was a great exchange, but I wonder if Barabbas actually experience the gift, or if he simply made a locational change. A from behind bars to in front of bars, but there was no true exchange of life that was purchased for him. So did he experience the John 8:36 reality?! Which is, “So if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” So was that freedom from prison all that Christ wanted to do in that exchange? I feel like a lot of people settle for being let out of prison, but they don’t experience the true gift that was given to us, with His exchanged life. Because that exchange is not just for freedom from prison it’s for experiencing His actual life, having Him live his life through. his resurrection was a great exchange not just for freedom but for victory—His life lives in me.
So I just want to remember the book The Great Exchange today because we have received a great exchange. If you don’t have that book, I invite you to get it I’ll put a link in the show notes here. It is a powerful book about how to actually live life, how to actually experience life, and how to live in victory. I’m always reminded of Galatians 2:20 that says. “He died for all so that those who live would not live to please themselves. But they should live to please Christ who gave His life for them, and rose again from the dead. Contextually it is my old self that has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, so that I can live in this earthly body by trusting in the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
I am always blown away by all that was purchased for me and I just think it’s such a tragedy if we had all these purchased, and we failed to enter into it because of unbelief because of lack of understanding. So I know that I go into depth into two from the minuscule at to the to the great and the great exchange of how to live that out and how to experience that great exchange. I do it with stories, I do it with parables, I do it with testimony, I do it with teaching. I just invite you to check it out and would love to hear what you think. So thank you again for listening and I love you and I will be back in touch real soon!
