(M) One of the main books that is focused on the purpose of God is Ephesians, and I’m going to read from the Holman. Ephesians 1:11, “In Him we were also made His inheritance.” He had an inheritance that night that He didn’t get.
(J) Ummmmm.
(M) In us
(J) Umhmmm.
(M) We were made His inheritance. We took care of it later. We prayed about it later. “Predestined, according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will.” “In Him we were also made His inheritance, predestined according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will.” His will and His purpose are the same thing.
(J) Umm, Ummm.
(M) So if you live for His will, you’ll be living for His purpose. Then there’s one in Ephesians 3:10. We are in this verse a lot. “This is so that God’s multifaceted wisdom now made known through the Church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens.” Ok. “This is according to the purpose of the ages, which He made in the Messiah, Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness, access and confidence through faith in Him.” Now, the purpose is; God had a purpose in Christ Jesus and that purpose was that we would receive access to Him with boldness through faith in Jesus. That is His purpose. His purpose is all… God’s purpose is for the Son, and the Church exists for the Son, the eternal, transcendent Church. And so purpose is a word that is very big in the Scriptures.
(J) And with Mimi.
(M) Yeah, with Mimi. So every person is called with a specific purpose. Paul had a purpose; it was for the Son. Everything is for the Son. When I go to dinner in a restaurant, it is for the Son.
(J) Um,Umm. And then every single thing that you’re doing, every single situation is then an increase of your knowledge of Him and experiencing of Him. So that makes everything wonderful because, you know. It’s not like you’re getting robbed, “Oh, I’m being slighted here because I have to, you know, give this to God.” You’re increased, and you’re experience of Him and your revelation of Him and you’re understanding of Him and your knowing of Him, your knowledge of Him, all increases because it’s all Him. So then the entire thing is about knowing Him. We could have known Him in that situation in the middle of it.
(M) In the middle of it. Yeah. Who knows what would have happened. But we are supposed to change the atmosphere.
(J) That was the big word.
(M) That was the word for you from Him.
(J) Change the atmosphere. You are responsible; when you’re there you’re responsible for the climate.
(M) And this is one of my favorite things that I learned from the Tahillim, which is the Jewish translation of Psalm. The meaning of ‘shalom’ is not just a Jewish word. The transliteration of ‘shalom’ is to destroy the authority that causes chaos. Isn’t that awesome?
(J) UmHmm. And that’s what we could have done.
(M) And that’s what we could have done. There was chaos from hell.
(J) Umhmmm!
(M) And we could have changed… We could have destroyed the auth… With just spoken ‘shalom.’ It might have changed, destroyed the authority of Satan to cause chaos.
(J) Well, and I do want to say that just because this happened like this doesn’t mean that He wasn’t able to get His will done, because you and I are His. We were increased in the knowledge of Him by what we got out of it.
(M) Absolutely! We got rich.
(J) So there’s grace over this. It’s not like, you know…
(M) And we did pray for them on the way home, and later we did pray for even their salvation.
(J) Umhmmm. Absolutely.
(M) We went; we cleaned up after our mess.
(J) Right!
(M) By grace. Ok. Now I want to go back to Romans 8:28, “All things work together for good…” Ok, now. It’s interesting that just past that the Spirit tells us how God wants to work together for good. Ok. Romans 8:26, “We don’t know how to pray. The Spirit joins us to pray for us as we should, and He Himself intercedes with unspoken groanings..and He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mindset because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” All you have to do is be in the Spirit wanting the will of God and you will have the will of God. Ok, we know “that all things work together for good for those who love God who are called according to His purpose.” And this is His purpose. I have isolated that verse so many times, but the purpose is just after that, “Those He foreknew, He predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.” See, if we’d been in His purpose, we would have been conformed into the image of His Son, and we might have gone over and said, “Hey, guys, we’ve got an answer; Jesus!” “So that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.” The purpose goes to conforming to Christ, then to the increase to Christ with many brothers. “And those He predestined, He also called, and those He called He justified and those He justified He glorified.” That is God’s purpose for us. And to link it to that “All things work together for good,” changes it for me.
(J) Umhmm, Umhmm.
(M) His purpose is that we will be Christlike by having Christ do it.
(J) UmUm.
(M) We should have let Jesus go to dinner. We should have continued our ministry to Him. It should not have ended when we closed our computers down and had a break.
(J) Right. Exactly.
(M) It should have, it could have gone on in absolute rest and peace.
(J) UmHmm. UmHmm.
(M) And no interruption of our flow with Him. And that’s what could have happened. And it caused that. As you say, “God transcended it,” because it has caused us to be conformed to His image. It’s caused us to know that whenever we, whatever we do and we’ve had rehearsals of it as we’ve done things recently. We’ve said, “Ok, we’re sitting here now in this place, in this situation, what does Christ want? What does God want for the Son?” So it’s terribly exciting and life changing.
(J) The grace is amazing. The grace is amazing to me, and He just, you know, said that, “Hey, ya’ll stepped out, ya’ll got, you know, creamed, but I’m still going to reap my Harvest out of it.
(M) Yes, yes.
(J) I have the living seed living within me, so that is going to bear fruit wherever I go.
(M) UmHmm. And we’ll see them in heaven, and they will be changed because we took authority. And as I remember it was powerful.
(J) I begged God, begged God for their salvation. They just need Jesus so bad. It was just so horrible. Thirty-one years they were married, and they had come there for three years in a row. Oh, it was awful.
(M) Yeah, yeah.

    Wonderful!

Hmmm. Been thinking about this, because somehow we all have to confront this daily, some way or other, when dealing with others, believers and non-believers.

The issue at hand is this, and always is this, as it relates to sin and evil: Satan looks desperately for focus and control, to DRAW you, absorb you… to suck you in, in order to KILL and devour you, basically. Therefore, the “work of authority” (if it could be called that way, but that’s a work to do in a daily basis), is to remain in position of focus on Jesus. That’s the work of a soldier, of course, and it is easy at the core of it.

“Just keep my focus on Jesus.”

And the real work that brings about that focus to my life is to fight in the arena of “NO”. A “NO” to Satan’s display, and a “NO” to “my way”. There is a huge fight of “NO” going on. “No to you Satan, or to you Sam, yes to Jesus.” Martha is touching this deeply in her current devotional “Rule and reign as Daniel” Satan wants our attention, and he displays His own show to draw us out of our focus. Maybe issue was you went in there with no focus (well, you should know this is my daily fight too!).

Focus is everything. You are focused, you just DO NOT ACCEPT that, you don’t accept that word, that dance, that evil ground. With our “no” in our hand, darkness cannot pass along. It is stopped that very second.

May God hear your prayers regarding this couple.

    Love

‘ So there’s grace over this. It’s not like, you know…

    (J) Umhmmm. Absolutely.

So glad you pointed this out, that you pursued praying for God’s kingdom even afterwards–too many times I give up and go to the self deprecation of the enemy…this is a wonderful ‘how-to’.
    Learning! Bless you both
